ACCESS:
Rockwood FOREST and MOUNTAIN LODGE are accessible ONLY by 4x4 high clearance vehicles. Alternatively, please request a transfer at the time of your booking.
PAYMENT:
Online bookings will receive a link to our secure PayBridge payment portal. Please complete the necessary details. On check-in, please present your ID and the credit card used for the booking. A driver’s license is unfortunately not accepted as proof of identiy.
POWER / ELECTRICITY:
Our eco-friendly Rockwood MOUNTAIN LODGE operates on GAS AND SOLAR. Please DO NOT use additional electronic appliance such as hairdryers and laptops. All other lodges are fully electrified with filtered water. Backup gas lamps are provided in the event of a power failure.
UNFENCED DAMS and RIVERS:
Please note if you are travelling with non-swimmers: Rockwood FARM HOUSE and COTTAGE share an UNFENCED dam. Rockwood FOREST LODGE is situated on the banks of a stream.
NO PETS POLICY:
We regret no pets allowed.
WEATHER:
The Karkloof is a Summer rainfall area. Winters are cold. Please bear this in mind when travelling with small babies and/or the elderly and pack appropriate clothing. Hiking shoes are appropriate for the hiking trails as the terrain can get very slippery when wet.
CHECK-IN:
Rockwood Office - ALL GUESTS TO CHECK-IN BEFORE PROCEEDING TO THEIR LODGE. Our Reception is not staffed full time. You will see signage for the office once you have entered the property.
CHECK IN:
Check-in is between 3pm and 4:30pm. For your safety and convenience, please make special requests 48 hours before arrival. We kindly request that you abide by these times as after-hour check-ins entails travelling on dirt/gravel roads in the dark.
CHECK-OUT:
Check is at 10am. Late check-outs can only be accommodated by prior arranged with management.
SUPPLIES:
Linen, towels, toiletries and complimentary bottle of wine, starter pack of tea, coffee, milk, sugar, cooking oil, charcoal and basic condiments are provided. Firewood is provided at Rockwood FOREST Lodge and FARM House.
SERVICE TIMES:
Lodges are serviced twice daily between 9am and 12pm and in the afternoon.
ACTIVITIES:
We will gladly assist with a Karkloof Canopy Tour booking at a discounted rate of R475.00pp.
MTB bikes are available at R150 per adult bike per day. Please liaise with housekeeping staff. The farm has 20km MTB / Hiking Trail covering Jeep, forest and single track. Alternatively, travel to the Karkloof Country Club (approx. 12kms away).
Fishing is good at Godwini Dam near Rockwood FOREST Lodge. Please bring own fishing euqipment.
Swimming in dams is good at Rockwood FARM House and COTTAGE and the weirs at Rockwood MOUNTAIN Lodge.
We offer a host of other activities on site including private dining with a local chef and various guided hikes with local experts.
SECURITY:
All Lodges have an alarm system linked to armed response. Full instructions are found in the Guest Book in your lodge or chat to our housekeeping staff.
CONFIRMATION:
All pricing is subject to final confirmation. All rates quoted are per unit per night, self-catering, including VAT. We reserve the right to amend the published rates without notice.
DISCLAIMER:
As our guest, you will have access to the reserve and surrounding farmland. Possible dangers to persons and property include, but are not limited to, unguarded rivers and dams, cliffs, waterfalls, slippery rocks, wild animals, domestic animals, timber harvesting, suspended decks, vehicle damage from farm roads, fire and flooding. Enter at your own risk and exercise caution. We and other landowners whose farms you have access to, accept no liability for any damage to property or persons, howsoever caused.
In the event that staff are unavailable, someone will come to the lodge in the afternoon to help you settle in.
As our guest, you have full access to the private Karkloof Nature Reserve.
