Whale Season Accommodation

Whale Season Accommodation

Whale watching boat

The Marine fauna in South Africa is almost as stunning as the Big Five! Southern right whales vacation in the waters off Cape Town every year, entertaining the inhabitants with displays of breaching, fluking and spouting. Southern right whales are the most prevalent whale species to be spotted in the waters near the Cape. But there's also a chance you'll get to see humpback and Bryde's whales.

The 900-kilometer-long Cape Whale Route runs from Strandfontein, close to Muizenberg, to Plettenberg Bay in the southern Cape. We have the incredible opportunity to interact closely with southern right whales when they travel to our coasts every year between June and December to mate and give birth. The best time to see whales is between August and October, though they can occasionally arrive sooner and stay later. BookNow.co.za has put together a list of accommodation spots where you will be almost guaranteed to spot some whales, during this year's whale season.
