Places to spend Easter Weekend

Bunny with Easter Eggs

It's almost Easter, which means a long weekend and a chance to get out of town. With so many alternatives, picking a weekend getaway can be difficult. Not to worry, whether you are a couple, a family, or have pets, the Western Cape is a treasure trove of hidden gems. While Easter weekends bring out the best in everyone, whether it's spending quality time with family, taking advantage of the additional long weekend, or hunting down and devouring all of the delectable chocolate, we've found some of the top places to visit around Cape Town.

1.    Lebanon Citrus Holiday Farm – Clanwilliam Dam

Clanwilliam Dam is ideal for waterskiing and wakeboarding, but it's also a great place to spend a relaxing weekend drinking beers around a braai. Labanon is a 650-hectare citrus and Rooibos tea farm located directly on the dam, complete with four rustic wooden houses and fifteen camp spots. The water level is somewhat low in April, but this does not diminish the grandeur of the surrounding mountains or the relaxing satisfaction of sunbathing with a book close to a large body of water.

The picturesque Skurwe and Matroosberg Mountains surround Eselfontein farm, which spans over 2500 hectares. The farm has a 48-kilometer mountain-biking track, a large dam, a waterfall, fishing areas, and hiking trails. Six thatch-roof shelters with two single beds and mattresses are located fifty meters from the dam in an aromatic pine forest. A total of eight individuals are permitted to camp. The eco-hut experience is both cozy and wild, with a thatch-covered bar area, enormous outdoor braai, large dining table, wooden armchairs, running water, flushing toilets, and hot showers.
